Norman Sylvester, born in rural Louisiana in 1945, found his musical roots in gospel and blues, despite restrictions on where he could listen. Relocating to Portland, Oregon during the "great migration," he honed his skills in church and learned from blues greats like Isaac Scott. Transitioning from a career in the trucking industry to full-time music, Sylvester's band gained recognition, sharing stages with legends like BB King and James Cotton. Inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame, Sylvester continues to balance family life while mentoring future artists and performing as a staple of the Northwest blues scene.
